To see the majesty of the ruins, once magnificent architectural constructions of the republic age before and of the imperial age after, to admire still today the inside of sites that are more then two thousand years old it’s something unique and breath taken; all of this being continuously encircled by the extraordinary scenery of palaces and of squares that are just enough to express the characteristic sumptuousness of the Popes’ city.
Palaces and squares born by the talent of the greatest artists of the renaissance and baroque style as Michelangelo, Raphael, Bramante, Bernini, Valadier etc.
But the splendours of Rome reflect even on the surroundings where the Patricians, holders of the good life, loved to spend their free time.
City like Tivoli, the ancient Tibur, where today we can admire the massive ruins of the Hadrian’s Villa dated II cent. A.D. and the fantastic Villa of the Cardinal Ippolito D’Este, dated XVI cent. and in the same village enjoy one of the most spectacular views of Rome, or Ancient Ostia, the main seaport of the ancient Rome still with its streets, houses, temples, markets, squares, etc.
Or even the area known as “Wine Country”, few minutes from Rome where besides enjoying the wonderful naturalistic landscapes of mountains and lakes, you could even taste, in the famous restaurants, the specialities of the roman cuisine as well as its excellent local wine.
Imagine that just in this area Cicero was born and here, in a splendid residence, the Popes use to spend their summer vacations.
